Crossword Update

It turns out that the crossword whose strangeness I blamed on The Egyptian Gazette is, in fact, purposefully written in bizarre English. This is a crossword of the sort that was popular in the Nation Magazine last time one of my spies checked, so perhaps you have to be far left to understand it?
